JOŠKIN ŠILJAN AND ALEKSANDAR STANOJEVIĆ KEMPA EXHIBIT IN PARIZU
LE NEZ - THE NOSE is the name the exhibition by Joškin Šiljan and Aleksandar Stanojević Kempa, in the Cultural Center of Serbia in Paris, held in the period from February 22 to March 9, 2024. The exhibition produced by Gallery Štab, as one of the most active contemporary art galleries from Belgrade, had great success.
The curator of this exhibition was Aleksandra Lazar, who pointed out that both artists possess expressiveness and caricature of expression, which is additionally enriched with wit and an understanding of the creative process as a game.
For this exhibition, Joškin Šiljan presents his ideas with large-format paintings. Šiljan's works have witty titles, and with associative forms he presents the nose as the main protagonist of a situation or moment.
The sculptures of Aleksandar Stanojević Kempa are large, dominant, monochrome and of a totemic character. Kempa's sculptures are made of everyday objects and recycled materials, covered with paper mache, and very intense colors. Every sculpture in the space has a prominent nose, sometimes highlighted with a different color.
From the very opening until the end of the exhibition, there was great interest, and the works of our artists managed to attract a lot of attention from Parisians.
