BILJANA ĐURĐEVIĆ - "The Last Supper" at Hestia Gallery

Biljana Đurđević showed her latest production at the exhibition titled "The Last Supper", in Hestia Gallery, from February 28 to May 25, 2024. The exhibition addresses the general weakness of society caused by the increasing instrumentalization of the human being by industry, technology and the media, both globally and locally. "The Last Supper" is a continuation of the "Case Study" project, which includes painting, animations and a graphic novel, where the focus is precisely on the exploited, tired body - our common, global body.

"The Last Supper" is a postmodern, almost epic project, devoid of mythology and heroic deeds. The protagonists have left the stage, and the narrative is muted by the fading energy of modern man. The space in the pictures is occupied by a bunk bed, chairs, tables, therefore, household elements. However, the word household sounds too warm, it is associated with a home, while these elements are cold, they could belong to schools, hospitals, factories, psychiatric and all institutions that can remind of a prison, and of course belong to the prison itself.

The Godfather of the exhibition was screenwriter Boban Jevtić, who had a notable guided tour throughout this exhibition. In addition, the exhibition recorded an exceptional visit under the regular guidance of the curator Neva Lukić.
